Philafieldhockey.com and Penn Field Hockey have partnered for the first-ever Battle of the Bridge Interstate Club Field Hockey Championship. The event – pitting Phila-area clubs vs. Jersey clubs* — will determine #whoRULES.
The Championship will be held Saturday, March 25th on Ellen Vagelos Astroturf Field, University of Pennsylvania. The format: 7v7, short field, with U12, U14 and U16 Divisions. Like Penn Field Hockey’s phantastic Phriday Night Lights, the Battle of the Bridge will include more than just great instruction and a tournament. Gear up for small-sided competitions, a clinic for each program, off-field fun and games, a cool city backdrop, music, and lots of high-fives.
“Philafieldhockey.com is excited to be part of an event that pairs intense competition and a ton of fun,” shared Kathleen Harte Simone, Founder & Editor. “I’ve always been super intense when it comes to sports but have always wanted to have a blast in the process. The Interstate Club Field Hockey Championship combines both – and that’s something I want to be part of. I’m looking forward to some really great hockey, lots of pride in where we come from, but also a sense of unity knowing that we’re all in it for the love the of the game. I’m psyched about presenting Spirit Awards to the club teams with the most fire and, of course, Championship Trophies to the winning clubs in each division. It’s going to be a battle!”
“On March 25th, the indoor season will be wrapped up and clubs will transition to the outdoor game, including JPOL. This is a great opp for the teams to prep,” added Colleen Fink, Penn Head Coach. “And why sign your team up for just the normal, run-of-the mill spring tournament when you can play with something on the line…bragging rights!”
