The third annual PhilaFH Senior All-Star Game, sponsored by Longstreth, was a true celebration of the area’s top talent. The event was held Sunday, November 19, at the indoor dome field of USA Field Hockey’s Home of Hockey, Spooky Nook Sports, Manheim, Pa. Teams Freedom and Liberty, each comprised of the 30 players selected by area coaches and 3 goalkeepers invited based on stats, represented 15 leagues from 54 of the 113 Phila-area high schools.
As expected, the players showed great skill, good sportsmanship, and a competitive spirit. Despite a lopsided score with Team Freedom topping Team Liberty, 6-3, the game was evenly matched and offensively charged with Freedom edging Liberty in shots on goal, 28-25. Strong defense and six goalkeepers who combined for upward of 20 saves per team made for an entertaining game for the 200+ fans in attendance.
Congratulations to all of the 2017 PhilaFH Sr. All-Stars! Philafieldhockey.com will follow and report on the 42 players who will continue their field hockey careers in college.
