Coatesville defender/midfielder and captain, Kendal Wilkes is the PhilaFH Student-Athlete of the Week.
The senior is a standout player for the Red Raiders and stands at #2 in Defensive Saves per game (1.00) among all Phila-area high school players. Wilkes is a four-year starter and was named to the First Team ChesMont League in 2016.
In addition to field hockey, Wilkes is a president of the school’s German Club and STEM Team. She is also a member of the Meistersingers, Yearbook, and National Honor Society. Wilkes is also a member of Coatesville varsity swimming and diving team and plays with Horizon Field Hockey Club’s Top-19 team.
Wilkes has taken or is currently enrolled in seven Advanced Placement (AP) classes in a variety of concentrations and numerous Honors courses as an underclassman. This year, she is also taking German 4. Wilkes carries a 95.38/100 GPA. She ranks in the top 15% of her senior class and has earned Honor Roll every marking period throughout high school. More so, Wilkes is a “Coatesville Area School District’s 75 to Watch”.
“Kendal is a leader both on and off the field. She works hard at both her school work and field hockey and is a very kind and caring person, always very helpful – even helps her teammates with homework during study halls,” said Coatesville Head Coach, Doreen Taylor. “Kendal is willing to step into different positions as needed on the field, playing both center back and center-mid this year.”
