Gwynedd Mercy Academy’s Jacque Senour is the Philafieldhockey Defender of the Week.
The junior has been a critical component of the Monarchs’ successful season including last week’s Regional Championship victory over New Hope-Solebury, a team that had been previously unbeaten. Senour anchored a defense that held NHS’s talented attackers to 1 goal (despite a 7.20 gpg average) as well as making a critical defensive save.
“Jacque had an incredible game, coming out of nowhere to clear the ball out of the circle, and even coming up with a critical end line save from a corner shot that nearly changed the course of the game,” said GMA Head Coach Alex McMahan. “A standout lacrosse player as well, Jacque’s athleticism is the key to her success in both sports and on defense for our team. All season long, Jacque has matched the pace of any attacker while still managing to get her feet around to make clean tackles at key points in the game.”
Senour is also noted as one of the most coachable and hardworking players on the field at any given time by McMahan.
In addition to her involvement in athletics, Senour is a Gwynedd Mercy Academy Ambassador and president and founder of the Social Media Club. She successfully balances an AP curriculum, has a passion for technology, and is interested in majoring in IT in college.
