Philafieldhockey.com will present Navigating the Recruiting Process, a free seminar for Phila-area field hockey players interested in playing in college. All players, parents, coaches and supporters are welcome to attend. The last recruiting seminar, in 2015, was filled to capacity and received rave reviews from attendees.
The seminar will include a presentation, with visuals, from four distinguished and seasoned Phila-area college coaches — from Division I, Division I Ivy, Division II, and Division III — each sharing important information on the recruiting process for their respective division, as well as insights less known.
Philafieldhockey.com is honored to welcome the following coaches:
Marybeth Freeman, Head Coach at Temple University (Division I / Big East)
Freeman is a five-time Division I champion as a player and coach. She’s served as Temple’s Head for 2 years, both of which her teams advanced to the Big East Tournament. Freeman coached four All-Region selections, six All-BIG EAST selections and an All-American at Temple. She previously coached at Columbia (Head, 5 years) and Maryland (Assistant, 7 years).
Colleen Fink, Head Coach at University of Pennsylvania (Division I / Ivy League)
Completing her 7th season, Fink’s tenure has sparked a resurgence in the Quakers program, placing them among the Ivy League’s top program. Under Fink, five players have been named to the All-Ivy First Team and one as a two-time All-American. Fink previously served as Haverford College’s Head Coach (4 years).
Amy Cohen, Head Coach at West Chester University (Division II / PSAC)
Cohen completed her sixth campaign as head coach. Her teams have qualified for the Division II Tournament five times, four times reaching the semifinals and twice winning the National Championships (2011, 2012). Cohen has steered her teams to two PSAC Championships and coached 21 All-Americas, a pair of conference Player of the Year honorees as well as the DII Player of the Year in 2016.
Jackie Neary, Head Coach at Cabrini University (Division III / CSAC)
Neary wrapped up her 21st season with the Cavaliers’ field hockey and women’s lacrosse programs in 2016-17. In field hockey, she is a five-time CSAC Coach of the Year and has guided her teams to three conference titles including in 2016, as well as a bid to the NCAA Tournament. Neary has coached numerous All-Conference honorees including CSAC Players of the Year.
A Question & Answer session will follow with the head coaches and current college players, who will also share their stories about playing collegiate hockey.
The recruiting seminar will be held on Sunday, March 5, from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. at Cabrini University in Radnor.
